Someone reported that gcin caused some problem to Firefox address bar:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4899952 "... I start typing a url in the Firefox address bar, it is refreshing the drop down list of urls twice after each keypress. Not really a big deal, but the problem is when I see the url I want on the list, if it's not at the top of the list, then when I press the down arrow, the drop down list refreshes using the top list url as the search again (so often only shows the url that was at the top of the list). So basically, the list is now useless. I can only select the one at the top because it refreshes each time and unselects the top one. So I need to press the down arrow again and then it happens again." I wonder if this is a known bug. I do have the same problem, but haven't confirmed that it is indeed caused by gcin. Does anyone have this problem? Thanks.

If you use popup window (hide window when there is no key in the gcin window), then you will not have this problem. The bug is caused by a bad implemnation of IM over-the-spot in Firefox. Currenly there is a dirty fix in gcin to overcome the problem of firefox.

eliu, thanks for the quick reply.
So, has that "dirty fix" been implemented in the latest stable version of gcin, or can I get that patch somewhere else? William

The dirty fix has this side effect. Currently there is no way to avoid it except using gcin popup window. |
